Schauer, Hubert (31 JAN 1915 – 13 MAY 1966)
Funeral services were held for Hubert R. Schauer on Monday, May 16 at St. Paul's
Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. R.W. Olson officiating. Mrs. William
Boardman served as organist, and Mr. Tom Kanten of Dresser, Wis., as soloist.
The pallbearers were nephews: Arvin Gosse, Arvin Schauer, Harold Schauer, Eugene
Graffunder, Willard Schauer, and Donald Schauer. Burial was in Green Grove
Cemetery, south of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) Mr. Schauer died suddenly on May
13, 1966 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls of internal hemorrhage. He
was 51.
He was born Jan. 31, 1915 at Curtiss, Wis. On May 14, 1936 he was married to
Sarah Hannie of Fairbury, Ill. He and his family moved to Thorp in 1939, where
he was employed at the Schmidt Chevrolet Gaage and Central Refrigeration Co. for
a number of years. In 1953 he and his wife purchased the motel which they still
operate, and in 1958 he began his own refrigeration service, which he operated
until the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn, his wife Sarah; two sons, James of Greendale, Wis., and
David at home; four brothers, Ernest of Edgar, Oscar of Abbotsford, Erich of
Neenah, Walter of Spencer, and one sister, Mrs. Ben Graffunder of Abbotsford.
