Miss Ruth Ann Godden and Gordon Schmidt were married April 23, 1966 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thorp. The Rev. Georges Mathieu performed the double ring ceremony before an altar banked with Easter lilies, white mums and gladiolas.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Godden, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. George Schmidt, Thorp.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Chantilly lace gown styled with a scalloped square neck, long pointed sleeves and a bouffant skirt fashioned of lace tiers set in the front panel and a lace overskirt. Her shoulder length veil of silk illusion as caught to a pearl and sequin crown and she carried a bouquet of white orchids surrounded by pink roses.

Katherine Godden sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and the attendants were Luellyn Schmidt, sister of the groom, and a friend, Diane Leisz. They wore identical floor length gowns of light blue taffeta featuring the empire waist, scoop neck and short sleeves, and matching veiled head pieces. Each carried bouquets of yellow and white mums and ivy.

Tom Leisz, friend of the groom, was best man, and Edward Godden, brother of the bride, and Larry Kaszubowski, a friend, were groomsmen. Allen Alger, cousin of the bride, and Neil Schmidt, cousins on the groom, were the ushers.

Sherrie Lukowski, niece of the groom, was the flower girl, and was attired in a gown similar to the one worn by the bride, and carried a miniature bride's bouquet.

A breakfast was served at St. Bernard's Church Hall following the ceremony, with covers for 85. Approximated 200 guests attended a dinner and reception in the evening at St. Hedwig's Parish Hall.

The bride's mother chose a blue print sheath dress with beige and white accessories and the groom's mother wore a three-piece navy and white suit with white accessories. Each pinned a corsage of pin roses and white carnations to their ensemble.

The new Mrs. Schmidt is a graduate of Thorp High School and is attending Luther Hospital School of Nursing. The groom was graduated from Thorp High School and the Coyne Electronic School in Chicago, and is the TV repairman with the Coast to Coast TV in Stanley.

Following a two week trip to Florida, the young couple is at home to their friends at 232 S. Broadway.
