------ Hoffmann, Caroline Marie (04 JUN 1966)

Miss Caroline Marie Hoffmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Hoffmann, route 1, Colby, was given in marriage to Calvin Leonhard Smart, route 1, Curtiss, in a ceremony performed at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby, Saturday, June 4.  The Rev. John B. Pinion officiated at the one o’clock nuptial mass.

Mrs. James Faucher of Waldo, Wis., was her sister’s matron of honor and Miss July Ann Faucher and Miss Bernice Ann Smart, a sister of the groom, were flower girls.  Miss Janice Smart, another sister, was bridesmaid.

Ken Drewek of Wausau, a cousin of the groom, was the best man and Larry Smart of Curtiss, a brother of the groom, completed the wedding party.  Performing the usher’s duties were Tom Hoffmann Sr. of Dorchester and Mike White of Wausau.

The bride appeared in a gown of Chantilly lace detailed with sequins on the appliqued neckline and layers of lace caught to a lace rose at the back.  The elbow length bouffant veil billowed from a crown of crystals and pearls.  She carried a crescent shaped bouquet of red roses, tiny white carnations, fern and ribbon with streamers which held red buds.

The matron of honor was attired in rose and the bridesmaid in turquoise.  Their floor length dresses were made of lace over acetate taffeta with scalloped bolero effect bodices with standout skirts with deep front pleat and scalloped lace side panel.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents and supper served to about 150 guests.  The new Mr. and Mrs. Smart received the congratulations and best wishes of friends at a wedding dance at Sportsmen’s Park, Colby.

Their future home will be at 1316 Fifth St., Wausau.  The groom is a student at Wausau Technical Institute.  His bride was employed at Carlyon Rexall Drug Store, Colby.
