Riley, Nancy Ann (18 Dec 1937 - 29 Apr 1969)
Mrs. Nancy Ann Riley, 31, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Walter Osterman, Meredosia,
Illinois, was killed April 29 in an accident south of Brighton, Illinois.
Mrs. Riley, wife of Rev. Donald Riley, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist
Church of Brighton, was dead on arrival at the Alton Memorial hospital shortly
after 7:30 a.m.
According to authorities, Mrs. Riley, who lived in Brighton, was driving to work
in . She attempted to pass a car ahead of her and a truck ahead of the car in
front of the Riley car was making a turn. The Riley vehicle clipped the truck
and threw Mrs. Riley's car out of control. She was thrown from the auto and
apparently died instantly.
She was born December 18, 1937, the daughter of Walter and Mary Jane Payne
Osterman, She was raised in Minonk and on July26, 1958, was married at Loyal, to
Rev. Riley. They lived in Wisconsin four years, later moving to Grafton and then
to Brighton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Steven Michael,
Paul Jonathon and Amy Lou, her parents, a sister, Mrs. Harold Tjaden, Minonk.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at St. Paul's United
Methodist Church in Brighton. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery at
Meredosia.
