Huber, Elroy E. (9 AUG 1928 – 11 JUL 2014)
Elroy E. Huber, 85, Spencer, passed away early in the morning on Friday, July
11, 2014, at House of The Dove in Marshfield. A funeral service was held at 1
p.m., on Monday, July 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. David
DePaoli officiated. Committal services followed in West Spencer Cemetery in the
town of Sherman.
Elroy was born on Aug. 9, 1928, in Spencer, the son of Edward and Adela (nee
Hoops) Huber. He graduated from Spencer High School and was valedictorian of the
Class of 1947. He married the former Harriet Bever on May 13, 1950, in the
parsonage at Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. She survives.
Elroy was employed as a procurement manager at Land O' Lakes, formerly known as
Dairy Belt, located in Spencer. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Spencer, a 25-year member of the Spencer School Board, and a board
member of CESA #6. For those who knew him, Elroy had a wonderful sense of humor
that was enjoyed by family and friends alike. During deer hunting season, his
boys remember Dad saying, "Yeah, I could go for a sandwich!" His life was
centered around the love of his beautiful wife and together they enjoyed camping
trips, gardening, fishing, family cookouts, playing cards, music, and traveling
out west and to Europe. In their later years, they enjoyed spending quiet days
on their back porch putting jigsaw puzzles together and reading. His kindness
and helping hand will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet, Marshfield; his children, Diane (David)
Bushman, Marshfield, Randy (Linda) Huber, Janesville, Vicky (David Manthey)
Huber, Arpin, Larry Huber, Stevens Point, Steve (Kay Gorecki) Huber, Marshfield,
and Tom (Mary Ellen) Huber, Spencer; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and many other relatives and friends.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Huber;
one brother, David Huber; three brothers-in-law, Arnie Bever, Ray Devine and Ray
Robinson; and two sisters-in-law, Margie Fessler and Ellen Huber.
