Private Dennis F. Vircks, son of Mrs. June Vircks of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), received a unit citation for high academic achievements in Military Police school at Ft. Gordon, Georgia. He was one of ten men from his company who received commendations from the commanding officer of the Brigade at graduation exercises on the 4th of March.

Pvt. Vircks, a former resident of Stanley, was a member of the high school class of 1963. He was working in Merrill, Wis., at the time he was drafted in October 1965. He completed basic at Ft. Knox, Ky., on December, and began M.P. school in January. Pvt. Vircks is now in airborne training at Ft. Benning, Ga., and upon completion of airborne school, he plans to further train and earn a "Green Beret" of the Army's "Special Forces."
