Thwing, David (17 Sept 1888 - 29 May 1969)

David A. Thwing, 80, Greenwood died May 29 St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield where he was a patient since May 9 and had undergone surgery.

Mr. Thwing was a son of Williamette and Clara Scovel Thwing. He was born September 17, 1888, in Greenwood. He was married to Flossie Williams on November 8, 1922, in Beach, North Dakota and returned to Wisconsin and farmed for two years and then moved to North Dakota and lived there for five years and in Drummond, Montana for 4 years then returned to Wisconsin in 1937 and farmed for a number of years. Later he was employed for 10 years by Clark Electric and retired 10 years ago.. He was a veteran of World War 1 and served in France and Germany.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Jesse, Marshfield; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Elsie) Miles, Crafton, Maryland; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Stowe, Abbotsford and Mrs. Albert (Bernice) Ehlert, Owen; three brothers, Rufus, Havana, North Dakota; Ralph, Stanley; and Henry of Clintonville.

Funeral services were held May 31 from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. LeRoy Gross, pastor of the Missionary Baptist church officiated. Military rites were in charge of the Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post 238. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Irvin Humke, David Reese, Ben Severson, Lex Dusso, Herman Metzke and Robert Carl.

Mrs. LeRoy Gross sang, "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages," she was accompanied by Mrs. Earl Richardson at the organ.
