Sorenson, Emily M. (14 SEP 1930 – 26 JUL 2014)

Emily M. Sorensen, age 83 of Withee, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Marshfield Care Center. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery in Withee. The Rev. Nancy Amacher will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 AM until time of service Thursday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is serving the family.

Emily was born September 14, 1930, the daughter of Axel and Anne (Madsen) Sorensen in the Town of Hixon. She grew up on a farm in Frenchtown and graduated from Withee High School.

Emily spent her life happy and carefree and loved to meet people. She spent a few years working as a home aide, then worked at St. Vincent's in the book department. Emily loved cats, word search puzzles, playing bingo, John Wayne, diet coke and collecting pencils. She couldn't go shopping without buying a pencil or two. The last 10 plus years, Emily was a resident at the Marshfield Care Center and was considered their official greeter. She would greet everyone that came to visit and asking where they were from. Emily also loved going out to eat, especially for strawberry waffles, and she was happy eating just the strawberries and whipped cream.

Emily is survived by nephews, James (Julie) Andersen, Robert (Claudia) Andersen, Gary (Lori) Andersen and niece-in-law, Nancy (Glen) Haines. She is further survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, her bingo friend, Jan and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Anne Sorensen, her brother George and sister-in-law, Joan , niece, Cathy Sorensen and nephews, John and Rick Andersen and John "Jack" Leibke.

Memorials can be made to the Marshfield Care Center.
