Kernz, Therese (Marriage - 30 September 1972)
Miss Therese Kernz, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip J. Kernz of Rt. 1
Neillsville, exchanged wedding vows with David Witkowski Saturday, September 30,
at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Witkowski of Rt. 1, Wittenberg. The Rev. Robert Kulinski, pastor
of St. Joseph’s, officiated at the 2 p.m. double-ring ceremony. A reception was
held at Blenker’s in Stevens Point.
For her marriage, the bride fashioned a modified empire-style gown of white
satin peau featuring a flowered-lace overlay and bishop sleeves. The gown was
complimented by a floor-length mantilla veil. She carried a cascade of yellow
tea roses with autumn leaves and greens as she approached the altar with her
father.
Bridal attendants were Jeanne Kernz, sister of the bride, as maid of honor and
Deborah Fullerton as bridesmaid. Their gold taffeta, empire-princess style gowns
with sheer nylon daisy-print were fashioned with bishop sleeves. Each carried a
single mum accented with autumn leaves.
Steve Peterson, Wittenberg, served as bestman. The groom’s brother, Gerald
Witkowski, was the groomsman. Ushers were Maynard Witkowski, the groom’s uncle,
and William Kernz, the bride’s brother. Organist was Miss Mary Jane Zinke.
The new Mrs. Witkowski is a 1970 graduate of Caroline Academy at Mequon and
attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her husband graduated from
Wittenberg High School in 1970. Both are employed by a (missing lines of
information.)
