Cha Cha, Yim (Marriage - 18 September 1972)
St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thorp was the setting for the September 18
wedding of John Joseph Meske, the son of Mrs. Helen M. Meske of Thorp and the
late Harry J. Meske, and Yim, Chi Cha of Korea. Yim, Song Sil is the bride’s
father; her mother is Pak, Pyong Su. Their home is in Seoul, Korea.
The couple exchanged vows before the Rev. Francis Brockman. Bouquets of
gladioli, carnations, mums and other flowers decorated the church for the 4 p.m.
ceremony, which was attended by approximately 75 relatives and friends from the
surrounding area and from Chicago and St. Louis. A reception followed at the
home of the groom.
For her marriage, the new Mrs. Meske chose a gown of nylon organza with a
matching veil. Presents in marriage by the groom’s godfather, Henry Michlig of
Edgar, she carried an arrangement of gladioli petals fashioned into a single,
large flower and accented with greenery.
Attendants were Miss Barbara M. Meske, sister of the groom, and John Plansky,
friend of the groom. Miss Meske appeared in a floor-length green gown with a
lace top. Her flowers were white roses, green spider mums and white mums
accented with foliage.
Guests were seated by James Plansky. Roger Truckey played the organ and also was
the soloist.
The bride was educated in schools in Seoul and Pusan, Korea. Her husband, a
19665 graduate of Thorp High School, completed three years of college in
Riverside, Cal., and entered the army in January, 1969. He will complete his
tour of active duty in August, 1973. Until then, they newlyweds plan to spend
some time in Europe.
