Clayton, Beatrice M. (13 February 1892 - 14 September 1972)
Mrs. Beatrice M. Clayton, 80, former Greenwood resident, died September 14, in
Everett, Wash.
Beatrice Ketchpaw, daughter of Byron and Ella (Roach) Ketchpaw, was born
February 13, 1892, in Elkhorn. In the fall of 1898 she came to Clark County with
her parents. They settled on a farm near Greenwood. She attended area schools
and graduated from Greenwood High School. She later taught school in Nevada,
where she was married to Archie Clayton. They operated a large cattle ranch near
Elko, Nev., for many years.
Mrs. Clayton returned to Greenwood and cared for her aged parents. She was
employed at the Clark County Hospital at Owen, the Clark County welfare
department and owned and operated a grocery store the last 12 years in Everett,
Wash.
She was a past-matron of the Greenwood Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and
a member of Harmony Church in Everett.
Survivors are a step-son, William Clayton of Alameda, Cal.; a brother, Dr. M. B.
Ketchpaw of Bloomer; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held September 18 in Everett, WA. Cremation followed and
the ashes were interred Tuesday in the Greenwood Cemetery.
