Braunel, Herbert H. (21 JUL 1919 - 22 JUL 2014)
Herbert H. Braunel, 95, Marathon, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau
Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1919, in Wausau, son of the late Edward and Louisa (Alhquist)
Braunel.
Herb lived his entire life on the family homestead. He ran the family farm for
many years, after taking it over from his parents. Later in life, Herb was the
Marathon County Assessor and also worked fixing televisions and raising mink.
Herb was a gifted craftsman and made many wonderful woodcarvings for family and
friends. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, Hilda, Carrie,
Ester, Selma, Ruth, Millie, Elsie and Arletta; and seven brothers, Edwin,
Rueben, Henry, Norman, Raymond, Walter and Wilmer.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Matthew
Lutheran Church, Marathon. Rev. Jon Hadler will preside. Burial will follow at
the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 3 p.m. until time of
services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon.
