Willard (12 October 1972)
A surprise birthday party and family reunion was held last Tuesday night at the
Frank Perushek home in honor of Frank’s birthday. A cake was donated for the
occasion by his sister Mrs. Mary Shumate of Chicago, Ill. A big dinner was
served. Those present were George and Mary Shumate of Chicago; Ludvik and Mamie
Perushek of Duluth, Minn.; and Anthony and Jeanette Perushek, Michael, Patty and
Johnnie and Angie and Duane Schultz, all of Neillsville. The evening was spent
in visiting and playing cards.
About 150 people attended a shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Rakovec
last Sunday afternoon for Connie Townsend and her fiancé, Michael Rakovec.
Hostesses were Mrs. Pat Dahl, Mrs. Joan Severson, Mrs. Theresa Rakovec, Misses
Rose and Linda Rakovec. The cake was made and decorated by Mrs. John Smercek and
Mrs. Louis Herkert, both of Marshfield. After the bride-to-be opened the gifts,
a lunch was served, followed by visiting and cards. The young couple plan to be
married November 4 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.
Mr. and Mrs. Ludvik Perushek of Duluth, Minn., visited Wednesday with Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Tolaney, Sr.
Mrs. Anna Volovsek left last week for Milwaukee accompanied by her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Lohrman, Frank, Jimmie and Donnie of Marshfield.
They attended graduation exercises of Bernard Sladich and returned home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Meke of Milwaukee were guests Saturday and Sunday of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Lamovec and family. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Victor Staut and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Perme and son of Davenport, Ia., were recent guests of his
parents, Mr. and Mr. John Perme.
Mr. and Mrs. John Knudsen of Audubon, Ia., were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs.
Warren Knudsen and family.
Frank Petkovsek of Chicago, Ill., visited here with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gregorich,
Mr. and Mrs. William Petkovsek and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Petkovsek.
Mr. and Mrs. William Lee of Gaeta, Italy, have arrived here to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Anton Petkovsek and family. Mrs. Lee is the former Dolores Petkovsek. Also
a guest there and at the Anton Petkovsek home was Mrs. William Petkovsek of
Waukegan, Ill.
The grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Petkovsek was named Douglas Dean. He is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. James Petkovsek and was born September 19.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hart of North Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Don Fallas and
children of Grayslake, Ill., were guests recently of Mr. and Mrs. John Francel.
Garth Prebil of Milwaukee spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton
Prebil.
