Bedell, George Thomas (23 November 1885 - 16 October 1972)

George Thomas Bedell, 86, of Fairchild, died early Monday morning, October 16, at the nursing home there. Services for Mr. Bedell are to be held this (Thursday) morning at 11 o’clock from the Augusta Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Walker of Augusta officiating. Burial will be made in the Fairchild Cemetery.

George Bedell, the son of Wiles and Frances Bedell, was born November 23, 1885, in Peasleeville, N. Y. and came to the Tioga area with his parents. His marriage to the former Gladys Hizer took place in 1919 in Fairchild. The couple moved to New York State shortly thereafter and returned to farm in the Fairchild area in 1937. Mr. Bedell was a Foster town board supervisor for a number of years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five children, Everett Bedell of Fairchild, Mrs. Melvin (Elsie) Melby of Osseo, Robert Bedell of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Mrs. Francis (Evelyn) Heiman and Harry Bedell of Neillsville. He is also survived by two sisters, mrs. James Wilcox of Little Valley, N. Y., and Mrs. William Linster of Penn Yan, N. Y.; and by 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
