Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Golden - 4 October 1972)

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horn were honored in celebration of their Golden wedding
anniversary at an open house held at the Legion Hall in Greenwood on October 7.
Hosts were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Horn and Mr. and Mrs. Verne
Vollrath. More than 200 guests attended. The tables were decorated with gold
streamers, gold colored bells and gold 50 numerals.
Mrs. Horn wore a corsage of gold orchid roses and her husband a gold rose
boutonniere. Her original attendant mrs. Art (Hilda Schmidt) Frane, wore a gold
rose corsage.
The guest book was a gift from two granddaughters, crystal and Patricia Horn.
The three-tiered anniversary cake was made by their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lloyd
Horn.
Henry Horn and Mary Woepse were married October 4, 1922 by the Rev. Otto Sowert
in the Town of Longwood. Since their marriage they have lived on their farm
eight and a half miles northwest of Greenwood with the exception of two years,
when they lived in Reseburg.
Mr. Horn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Horn, was born in the Town of Longwood,
Braun Settlement. Mrs. Horn, whose parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Woepse, was
born in the Town of Memme, Manitowoc County. She came to Greenwood with her
parents in 1910. They are members of Immanuel United Church of Christ.
Their children are Donald and Lloyd Horn of Greenwood, Jerome Horn of Mexico
City and Mrs. Verne (Laverne) Vollrath of Janesville. They have 10 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
The honored couple received many monetary and other gifts and congratulatory
messages. In the evening Mike Briski furnished music for dancing and guests
played cards. Guests included Mrs. Horn’s 86-yrear-old uncle, August Schmidt,
and other relatives from Cleveland, Prairie du Sac, Minneapolis, Eau Claire,
Elkhart Lake, Sheboygan, La Crosse, Janesville, Kohler, Wausau, Abbotsford
Williams Bay and surrounding communities.
Their son, Jerome Horn, was not able to attend but called his parents Wednesday
evening from Mexico City to congratulate them.
