Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 AM until time of service Monday at the
church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the
arrangements.
Bill was born on September 24, 1925 to Arthur and Elsie (Schmidt) Giese in the
Town of Frankfort. He attended a one room grade school in the Town of Frankfort
and graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1944. On August 27, 1949, Bill
married Alvina Mielke at Peace Lutheran Church in the Town of Frankfort.
Bill and Alvina were dairy farmers for 32 years in the Town of Frankfort until
their son took over the farm in 1982. They continued to raise beef cattle and
Bill worked at Meier Sawmill for many years following his retirement from the
farm. He was an active and dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church in the Town
of Frankfort his entire life, holding many offices within the church. Bill was a
member of Farm Bureau and the Central Wisconsin Steam and Gas Engine Club, where
he operated the sawmill with his good friend, Ike Martyn, for many years. Bill
enjoyed reading and working in the woods, but his favorite past time was
woodworking. He built his home that they are living in now and also made
numerous wood crafts for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Alvina; a daughter, Ellen
(David) Syring and son Russell (Barbara) Giese, both of Edgar; six
grandchildren: Jason Syring, Joshua (Hunna) Syring, Jeremiah Syring, Tina
(Larry) Holzhueter, Julie Giese and Wayne (Samantha) Giese; five
great-grandchildren: Tyler and Trevor Holzhueter, Brock and Emma Syring and
Justin Giese; his siblings: Lorinda Erickson, Sandra (Roger) Stremer, Etola
Foytek and Meldon Giese.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Noreen Giese,
Sister-in-law, Pat Giese, brothers-in-law, Albert Mielke and Bob Erickson.
