Davis, Dorothy Adline (12 November 1916 - 5 November 1972)
Funeral services for a Clark County native, Mrs. Dorothy Adline Davis, 56, of
Neillsville, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. The
Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made
in the Levis Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, who had been in failing health for the last three years, died
November 5 at University Hospital in Madison, where she had been hospitalized
since June.
Dorothy Davis, the daughter of Ferdinand and Hattie Gorelitz, was born November
12, 1916, in Clark County and received her education here. She was employed in
Chicago for several years before returning to Neillsville. Her marriage to
Clarence L. Davis took place November 5, 1938, in Neillsville. The couple farmed
in the county for many years. After her husband’s death in 1960 she moved into
Neillsville, where she worked in restaurants for several years.
Survivors include nine children, Clarence L. Davis, Plover; Diane D. Davis,
Berlin; Mrs. Edward (Mary) Strangfeld, Neillsville; Robert Davis, Lake Geneva;
Mrs. Byrl (Louise) Strangfeld, Neillsville; Kenneth Davis, Lake Geneva; Allen
Davis, Elkhorn; and Janice, and Richard at home. Three brothers, Gustave
Gorelitz, Otto Gorelitz and Charles Gorelitz all of Kaukauna, 20 grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren, also survive.
