------ Weix, Amalia (11 FEB 1875 – 23 AUG 1966)
Mrs. Amalia Weix, 91, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 23, at the home of her
son, Dr. Frank Weix, in Colby.
Prior to the funeral services Saturday, rosary services were conducted Thursday
at 8 p.m. by the Christian Mothers Society, and a general rosary was held Friday
evening at the Lulloff Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic
church with Rev. John B. Pinion officiating at the requiem mass. Rev. Ambrose
Blenker and Rev. Michael Mertens, chancellor at La Crosse, assisted at the mass.
Music for the service was sung by St. Mary’s choir, accompanied by Sister Louise
Marie, organist.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Henry, Alphonse, David, Albert Jr., Ronald and
John Weix. Interment was made in St. Mary’s parish cemetery.
Amalia Christine Beyerl was born February 11, 1875, in the town of LeRoy, Dodge
county, Wisconsin. At the age of seven years, she and her parents moved to the
town of Colby.
On February 23, 1897, Amalia was married to Lorenz Weix at Colby, and they lived
in the town of LeRoy for several years before returning to the town of Colby
where they farmed until 1942.
To this union were born seven children, five sons, Martin, Albert, Raymond and
Dr. Frank Weix, all of Colby, and Lawrence of Curtiss; and two daughters, Sister
M. Laurita (Rose), Villa St. Joseph at La Crosse, and Miss Barbara Weix, Colby.
Mr. and Mrs. Weix made their home with their son, Dr. Frank Weix, Colby, since
their retirement in 1942. Her husband preceded her in death May 3, 1946.
Survivors are five sons and two daughters, named above; two brothers, Louis
Beyerl, Colby, and Henry Beyerl, Calimesa, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline
Schuster, Colby, and Mrs. Veronica Bauer, Colby; 38 grand children, 49 great
grand children, and one great great grand child.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four
sisters.
