Thompson, Harriett G. (23 January 1886 - 18 November 1972)
Funeral services for a former manager of the McCain’s Store here, Mrs. Harriett
G. Thomson, 86, of Memorial Home, who died November 18, were held Tuesday
afternoon at the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United
Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson the daughter of George and Minnie (Funk) Gericke was born January
23, 1886, at Watertown and was educated there. She was employed in department
stores in new York City and a clothing buyer for Hudson’s department store in
Detroit before coming to Neillsville, where she worked for Marsh’s and managed
the McCain Store until it was moved. Her marriage to Otto Thompson, who preceded
her in death, took place November 28, 1929, in Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Thompson
entered memorial Home four years ago.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Leona Landgraf of Neillsville, and two brothers,
Theodore Markham of Mesa, Ariz., and Wesley Markham of Mission Hills, Calif.
