Greshner, Joseph ‘Stan’ (? - 20 November 1972)
Joseph ‘Stan’ Greshner, 45, was pronounced dead-on-arrival at a Marshfield
Hospital Monday evening, after becoming entangled with an elevator power
take-off on his farm on Rt. 1 Withee.
Greshner, who operated the farm just north of Longwood, was unloading cob corn
into an elevator about 7:30 p.m. when his clothes were caught in the drive
shaft, according to Clark County Coroner Robert Lulloff. The coroner said that
Greshner’s wife went to the barn to check on her sons’ milking and found her
husband entangled in the machine.
The coroner stated that he did not know how long Greshner had been unloading the
corn. “The load was almost off the wagon, but we don’t know if it was a full
load due to the late evening time of the accident; he could have been finishing
for the night,” Lulloff said.
The coroner also reported that the elevator was ‘partially visible’ from the
house.
Resuscitation efforts at the farm failed.
“A cause of death has not been determined as of yet; there were no external
injuries,” the coroner said.
Greshner is survived by his wife Lois, and family.
Arrangements will be be made by the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, Owen.
