Neillsville News (13 August 2014)
The Neillsville Retirement Home was almost filled to capacity (but room for
still a few more) to help Elsie Holub celebrate her 95th birthday. Birthday
Cake, ice cream, cheese, sausage and chips were topped off with lots of Hershey
Kisses. Dahlia, Tiger lily, Gladioli, Roses and Begonia were some of the flowers
given as gifts. About 50 guests from Alma Center, Stoddard, Merrillan, Black
River Falls, Granton and Neillsville came to sing “Happy Birthday” to Elsie on
her way to becoming a centenarian.
The 95th birthday of Elda Morley was celebrated at a luncheon in her honor held
at the Legion hall Saturday, Aug. 9. Elda Emma Foemmel was born Aug. 9, 1919, in
Neillsville. After graduating from high school, she went to Chicago to work,
moved to Los Angeles, where she worked in an aircraft factory, met William
Morley, and the two were married in Los Angeles in 1943. After the war, they
came back to Wisconsin and bought a house in Granton. They were blessed with two
children, Fred and Joanne. William died in 2005. Fred and Joanne, along with
their families, hosted the celebration where family, relatives and friends
surrounded Elda with love and many good wishes.
Guests at the Pischer home last week were Erik Hyslop, Steamboat Springs, CO;
Kathy Hyslop; Jennifer Barker and sons, Tommy, Morgan and Will, all of Pewaukee;
and Dan, Carrie and Lisa Christie of Black River Falls. The birthdays of Will,
who turned two and Jennifer and Lisa were celebrated with a dinner with a dinner
Thursday.
