Fred R. Wollenberg, youngest son of Fred Wollenberg, formerly of Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.), now of Edwall, Washington, spent the holidays at the Jack
Syth and K.W. Baker home here and at Owen. He is a cadet in the U.S. Navy Air
School in Pensacola, Florida. He, with five other cadets from Wisconsin and
Minnesota motored here from Florida in 30 hours.
On Christmas Day relatives were entertained at the K.N. Baker home at Owen by
recordings made by Fred's mother and sister in Washington, extending greetings
to all and sent here to surprise him. His sister, Ella, who is a vocal student
in Seattle, sang Silent Night in German. Thursday, Fred and his aunts, Mrs. Syth
and Mrs. Baker, and some of the cousins enjoyed a telephone conversation with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.F. Wollenberg in Washington. They were all happy to
hear that Fred, who has been a patient in a hospital in Seattle, is now at home
and feeling well.
