Bernard F. Hogue, principal of Cudahy High School, will round but a quarter
century of faithful services as a public school administrator when the current
scholastic term ends June 13, 1947.
Born and raised in Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wis., Mr. Hogue graduated from
Greenwood High School, subsequently attending the University Wisconsin Milwaukee
Engineering School, Milwaukee State Teachers College, and Marquette University.
The educator received his E.E. Degree from Milwaukee State Teachers College and
his Master's Degree from Marquette.
Coming to Cudahy in Sept. 1922, Mr. Hogue assumed the principal-ship of the
Washington School, which at that time was the only full-fledged school in the
city. The high school had not yet been erected and barracks were being used
during the building of the Koscluszko School. Twelve years later he became
principal of Cudahy High School.
Reminiscing over the past 25 years, Mr. Hogue recalls with pleasure the children
who trekked to the old Washington School in the "roaring twenties," who now have
youngsters of their own enrolled in the high school. The greatest satisfaction
that a teacher enjoys in the education field is watching the students attain
ultimate success – one thing that teachers get that cannot be measured in mere
dollars and cents, the principal stated. Mr. and Mrs. Hogue and their three
daughters reside at 3718 E. Allerton Ave. (From the Cudahy Reminder)
