Ewert, Muriel J. (3 OCT 1920 – 17 AUG 2014)

Muriel J. Ewert, 93, Crystal Lake, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Crystal Lake. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 21, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, Ill.

Muriel Joy Prior was born on Oct. 3, 1920, in Wauconda, Ill., to Ray and Addie (nee Colby) Prior. On Aug. 17, 1941, she married Raymond Ewert in Loyal. Muriel was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake. She worked for District #47 as a cook for many years before retiring in 1980. She loved visiting with people and writing letters. She enjoyed golf and crocheting in her younger years.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Bonnie) Ewert, John (Ra Balnius) Ewert, and Jim (Jennifer) Ewert; her grandchildren, Ray, Glen, Nancy, Kurt, Tanya, Vasare, Audra, and Jared; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, William, Ray, Mike, Tyler, Drake, Cheyanne, Nickolas, and Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; and her siblings.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
