Floyd Gierl gave his daughter Marian J., in Marriage to Peter A. Schemenauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmerd Schemenauer, all of route 2, Athens, in a ceremony performed at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, Athens, Saturday, Sept. 17.

The Rev. Thomas Smith officiated at the 10:45 o’clock nuptial mass during which marriage vows were exchanged before the altar adorned with vases of white mums and gladioli. During the ceremony in which the bride placed a bouquet on the altar of the Blessed Virgin, Dr. T. Krembs played and sang “On This Day O Beautiful Mother”.

Attending as honor couple were Mrs. Albert Kunze of Athens and James Gierl of Wausau, sister and brother of the couple. Others in the bridal party were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schemenauer of Menomonee Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Nowacki and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Zettler of Athens.

Albert Kunze and Raymond Schemenauer of Athens performed the ushering duties.

For her wedding the bride chose a gown of Chantilly lace and organza over taffeta. The lace bodice had a scalloped neckline enhanced with miniature pearls and elbow length sleeves with scalloped edging. A lace and organza watteau train flowed from the shoulders. The organza A-line skirt was designed with empire waist. Floral clusters of three, each surrounded with lace crystals and pearls, formed the headpiece which held her bouffant veil of nylon illusion. She carried a cascade of large pink roses and stephanotis.

Aqua was the color of the gowns worn by her attendants. Embroidered lace covered the bodices and elbow length sleeves and the sheath skirts were fashioned of chiffon Watteau panels from the shoulders created a back interest. They wore matching headpieces of three roses and lace. The matron of honor carried a cascade of “Better Times” fuji mums and pompons. Pastel pink fuji mums and pompons were combined in the bouquets of the bridesmaids.

Festivities of the wedding day took place at the Trianon Ballroom where about 400 guests were served brunch and supper. The reception and dance were also held there.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Schemenauer left on a wedding trip to the Apostle Islands and on their return will live at route 2, Athens, where the groom is employed on his father’s farm. He attended Abbotsford high school.

His bride, a 1963 graduate of the Athens high school, is an office clerk at Kraft Foods, Milan.
