Mrs. Alvina Sylvia Ipsen, 86, Abbotsford, died Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10:30 p.m.
at the Leahy Nursing Home, Abbotsford, where she had been living for the past
year and a half.
The body will lie in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, until 1
p.m. Thursday when the Rev. F. H. Sprengler of Christ Lutheran church will
conduct the services. Mrs. Ipsen was a member of that congregation.
The former Alvina Kloppenberg was born May 18, 1880, in Germany and received her
education there. She was united in marriage to Charles Ipsen at Colby in 1919.
The couple lived in the Abbotsford area and for 17 years operated the Altonna
Inn on highway 13. Mr. Ipsen died July 21, 1947.
Surviving her are two step-children, Mrs. Otto (Selma) Eder of Wausau and Ernest
Ipsen, Beaver Dam; a niece, Mrs. Betty Kuola, Wakefield, Mich.; a grand
daughter, Mrs. Russell (Viola) Spears, Mercer, and a great grand son, Scott
Spears.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara, two sisters and a brother.
