Olson, Raymond (22 March 1914 - 16 December 1972)
Funeral services were held last Tuesday from the Methodist Church in Fairchild
for Raymond Olson, 58, of Milwaukee, who died Saturday at the Veterans’ Hospital
at Wood. The parish minister officiated and burial was made in the Fairchild
Cemetery. The casket was draped with the flag, which was presented in the
cemetery to his brother, Ernest Olson.
Raymond Olson was born March 22, 1914, in Augusta to Andrew and Amanda (Kottke)
Olson. As a small child he came with his parents to Fairchild where he received
his education. He served with the army in WWII for about three years. Later he
moved to Milwaukee where he owned and operated a tavern.
Survivors include seven sisters, Mrs. Laura Obermeier, Mrs. Harold (Bertha) Rice
and mrs. Ray (Betty) Pickett, all of Wausau, Mrs. Everett (Almeda) Pointer,
Thurman, Calif., Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Pozega, Sr., Willard, Mrs. Robert (Ida)
Sessions, Hamburg, and Mrs. Duane (Patricia) Sessions, Marathon; and three
brothers, Clarence Olson, Minneapolis, Minn., Ernie Olson, Berwyn, Ill., and
David Olson, Kenosha.
Pallbearers, all nephews, were: Frank Pozega, Jr., Tommy Pozega, Ronald Olson,
Robert Olson, Andrew Sessions and Stephen Preston.
Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Laura Obermeier, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Rice and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pickett, all of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Sessions, Hamburg; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Sessions, Marathon; Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Olson, Minneapolis; Ernie Olson, Berwyn, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. David
Olson, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pozega, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pozega, Sr.,
and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Olson, Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Olson,
Cicero, Ill., Andrew Sessions, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Preston, Marathon; Alfred
Knuth and Mr and Mrs. William Kottke, Fairchild.
Raymond Olson was well known here, having relatives in the Willard area.
