Meihack, Clara (19 March 1900 - 16 December 1972)
Funeral services for a Pine Valley native, Mrs. William (Clara) Meihak, 72,
Neillsville, who died here December 16, were held Monday afternoon from Zion
American Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine Valley. The Rev. Richard Eggen
officiated and burial was made in the Pine Valley Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Meihak, the daughter of John and Louise (Meyer) Durst, was born March 19,
1900, in Pine Valley and was educated there. Her marriage to William Meihak took
place June 21, 1922, in Pine Valley. The Meihaks farmed in the area until 1968
when they retired and moved to Neillsville. Mrs. Meihak was a member of Zion
American Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society and of the Hilltop
Homemakers club.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three children, Mrs. Harold
(Margaret) Rockwood of Cottage Grove, Minn., Mrs. Wendel (Lorraine) Storm of
Sheboygan and Roger Meihak of St. Paul, Minn.; and six grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Neoma Van de Berg of
Springfield, Ore.; by three brothers, Walter and Arno Durst of Neillsville and
Alvin Durst of Plymouth; and by her stepmother, Mrs. Klara Durst of Augusta.
Pallbearers were Arnold Gustman, Charles Marden, Tony Karnitz, Art Dux, Walter
Larsen and Samie Ball. Mrs. Richard Eggen sang “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old
Rugged Cross.” Mrs. Kenneth Karnitz was the accompanist.
Those from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rockwood
and family, Cottage Grove, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Strom and family,
Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Meihak, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Gary Nelson and
Dennis Buchsteiner, Madison; Alvin Durst, Melvin Rordtvedt and Ed Elmer,
Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beyer, Tigerton; Mrs. Donald Will, Colby; Mrs.
Marvin Anderegg, Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Gaier and Werner Meihak,
Marshfield.
