Vobora, Tony (2 April 1890 - 17 December 1972)
A Town of Lynn resident since 1920, Tony Vobora, 82, of Rt. 2 Granton, died
December 17 in Neillsville. Funeral services for Mr. Vobora were held Wednesday
afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Nickel of the
united Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Town of Lynn Cemetery.
The son of Joseph and Marie (Tryner) Vobora, he was born April 2, 1890, in
Czechoslovakia and was educated there. Mr. Vobora came to the United States
without his family and located in California. He operated a ranch there before
coming to Clark County in 1920 and settling on a farm in the Town of Lynn.
His marriage to the former Mary Marek took place February 21, 1917, in Santa
Ana, Calif. Mr. Vobora was a member of Western Fraternal Lodge No. 303, Levis.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are nine children, Antone Vobora of Rt. 2
Granton (at home), Mrs. Leo (Marie) Gross of Neillsville, James Vobora of
Marshfield, Mrs. Leonard (Agnes) Gross of Hawley, Minn., George Vobora of
Medford, Ore., Mrs. Harold (Josephine) Bartlett of West Bend, Mrs. Harold
(Angela) Walker of Neillsville, Mrs. Libbie Gluch of Granton and Stanley Vobora
of Mosinee. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren, by a sister, Mrs. Bessie Janik of Monterey Park, Calif.;
and by three brothers, Joseph and Lee Vobora of Perris, Calif., and James Vobora
of San Jacinto, Calif.

Funeral services for Tony Vobora, 82, of Rt. 2 Granton, who died December 17 in
Neillsville, were held December 20, from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev.
Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the
Lynn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leo Michalski, Larry Mishkar, Ed Wegner, Joe Arbelovsky, Sr.,
Tony Adamec and Henry Alsterberg. Mrs. Harold Mayer sang “Softly and tenderly”
and “Jesus Savior, Pilot me.” Mrs. Jess W. Scott was the accompanist.
Those from out of town who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Gross, Hawley, Mn.; Mary Gross and Joanne Gross, St. Paul, Mn.; Mr. and Mrs.
Stanley Vobora and family, Mosinee; Mr. and Mrs. Tali Kauffman, Rochester, Mn.;
Charles Vobora, River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Michalski and son and Mr and Mrs.
Larry Mishkar and family, Wausau; Kathleen Vobora, Kenosha; Mrs. Joe Urban, Sr.,
and James Urban, Pittsville; the James Vobora family, Mrs. Hildegarde Hilgart,
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hilgart, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Jonas and Mr. and
Mrs. LaVerne LaMere, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Arbelovsky, Sr., Chili; and
the Harold Bartlett family, West Bend. Several from the Granton and Neillsville
area were also present.
