Dickerson, Mabel (25 March 1889 - 2 January 1973)
Mrs. Mabel Dickerson, 83, of Marengo, Ill., and formerly of Chili, died January
2 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Belvidere, Ill. Funeral services were held Friday
morning from Immanuel United Methodist Church, Chili, with the Rev. L. L.
McCormick officiating. Burial was made in the Yolo Cemetery. The Gilbertson
Funeral Home, Granton, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dickerson, the former Mabel Wiest, was born March 25, 1889, at Marengo. Her
marriage to Maurice Dickerson, who preceded her in death, took place April 25,
1906. The couple farmed in Illinois until 1915 when they came to Clark County.
Mrs. Dickerson returned to Illinois in June of 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Mr. Clarence (Velaura) Meyers of Lombard, Ill., and
Mrs. Edgar (Jolene) Rach of Frankfurt, Ky., two sisters, Dora Lange and Grace
Bollnow, both of Marengo; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Don Bersell, Wayne Green, Elmer Steffen, Marvin Menger, Victor
Anderson and Lawrence Dix. “Sweet Hour of Prayer” and “Some Glorious Morning”
were sung by Harland and LaVern Meissner. Mrs. Albert Grimm was the organist.
