John Wuethrich's sale of Registered Holsteins last Saturday was a great success
and is another demonstration to convince farmers that it pays to buy and raise
good cattle. A number of buyers from outside the county attended the sale and
bought cattle. $700 was paid for one cown, while several others sold for five
and six hundred dollars per head. The entire herd of 51 head, including a number
of small calves and several yearlings, averaged over $300 per head. This is the
highest average gotten at any pure bred sale in the state of Wisconsin for eight
months. The entire sale totaled $17,000.
A great deal of credit is due to Mr. Krause of Thorp, who handled the pedigrees
in a very explicit way, and to Auctioneer C.A. Olson of this city, who cried the
sale in a manner that pleased everyone. Cook of Unity took bids on the
sidelines. John is well pleased with the results of his sale and will plan on
having another sale of purebred Holsteins another winter.
