Francel, Frank J. (23 December 1904 - 11 January 1973)

Frank J. Francel, 68, of Marshfield, a former Willard man, died unexpectedly Thursday night in Chicago, Ill., while on an assignment for the Department of Agriculture.

Funeral services were held January 8 in Marshfield and burial was made there. The Rev. James Hagman, pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church, officiated.

Mr. Francel was born in Ely, Minn., December 23, 1904, son of Frank and Hannah (Kozar) Francel. He came to Willard in 1910 where he lived on a farm. He operated cheese factories in the Greenwood and Abbotsford area before he became an inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture as a dairy produce inspector, a position he had held for 10 years. Mr. Francel was married November 5, 1931, to Frances Tomsich, who survives him.

He is also survived by two sons, James of Chicago, Ill., and Arthur of Janesville; four daughters: Eileen at home, Betty of Bloomington, Minn., Mrs. Orville (Wanda) Schwarze of Spencer and Mrs. John (Jeanette) McHugh of Framingham, Mass.; three grandchildren; eight sisters: Mrs. Hannah Kokaly, Willard, Mrs. Agnes Schnaitman, Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Lambert (Mary) Butzen, Mrs. Tony (Pauline) Hribar, Mrs. Theresa Kranjc, all of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Ludvik (Josephine) Koschak of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Ignatz (Frances) Koschak and Mrs. Frank (Hedwig) Klinke, both of Greenwood, and two brothers, John of Willard and Paul of Sturtevant.

Mr. Francel was well known here, having lived here for many years.
