O’Brien, William H. (5 April 1882 - 20 January 1973)
A former area man, William H. O’Brien, 90, died January 20 in New Richmond where
he had resided for the last eight years. Funeral services were to be held
Wednesday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of
the United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was to be in the Neillsville
City Cemetery.
The son of Martin and Maryann (Garven) O’Brien, William O’Brien was born April
5, 1882, in Quebec, Canada, and came to Clark County with his parents at the age
of one year. The family was engaged in farming. Mr. O’Brien, who was educated in
area schools, farmed and was employed at Lowes Furniture Store and funeral home
for a time. He did carpenter work here until 1945 when he moved to Black River
Falls, where he also did carpentry. His marriage to the former Anna Belle Krejci,
who died in 1961, took place June 6, 1904, in Neillsville.
Among the survivors are three children, Harold (Bud) O’Brien of Eagle River,
Mrs. Clair (Genevieve) Marshall of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Lyle (Beatrice)
Sischo of Springfield, Ore.; and nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
