Greeler, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Serious Auto Accident – 18 Oct 1916)
On Wednesday evening of last week, Frank Vasko met with a serious automobile
accident in which he and his wife were quite badly hurt. Mr. and Mrs. Vasko and
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greeler in the Vasko car and Mr. and Mrs. George Frei and
George Vasko and Irving Greeler, in the Frei car, were returning home from Loyal
about midnight. As they neared the Will Rowe farm, the Frei car, which was in
the lead, turned off suddenly and Vasko attempted to follow also. He was going
at too high rate of speed to make the turn safely. He applied the emergency
brake, but the car went over the embankment into the ditch. The sudden stop
threw the occupants out of the car into the road and all were badly hurt, Mr.
Vasko having several of his teeth knocked out and being rendered unconscious,
Mrs. Vasko being badly bruised, Mrs. Greeler suffering injury to her lower limbs
and Mr. Greeler being hurt about the chest. All of the injured persons were
taken home and have been under the care of a d Octor ever since. It was a very
bad accident and one which had serious results, but fortunately that none of the
participants were killed.
