------ Mierkey, Edith June (22 OCT 1966)
Miss Edith June Mierkey became the bride of Lance Corporal Dennis Dale Schoelzel
in nuptial rites conducted Saturday, Oct. 22, at the First United Church of
Christ, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated.
Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Evan Mierkey Sr. and Mr. and Mrs.
Rudolph Schoelzel, all of Colby.
Attending the couple were Joanne Lehman, Milwaukee, maid of honor, and Cyril R.
Gabel, Milwaukee, best man. Ushers were Evan Mierkey Jr. and John Sheets.
For her wedding, the bride wore a floor-length gown of net and taffeta with
inserts of Chantilly lace. The long-sleeved bodice was accented with pearls and
sequins. Her three-tiered, fingertip veil was held in place by a crown of pearls
and crystals. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations. Miss
Lehman wore a pink and white satin sheath, accented with embroidered bodice and
a back train. She wore a black and white pearl pendant around her neck.
Music during the ceremony was provided by Edward Wachtendonk, soloist,
accompanied by Jolene Wachtendonk at the organ.
Following the candlelight service, a reception was held at the Airport Bar.
Guests came from Colby, Abbotsford, Birnamwood, Athens, Milwaukee, Marshfield,
Waukegan, Ill., and Minnesota.
The bride is a 1964 graduate of Colby high school. Her husband is also a Colby
alumnus. The bride was employed at the Briggs and Stratton Corp. at Milwaukee.
The couple planned a wedding trip to California, after which they will be making
their home in Buena Park, Calif., where the groom is stationed with the US
marine corps.
