Bloom, Carl R. (7 OCT 1926 - 2 SEP 2014)
Carl R. Bloom, age 87, West Bend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 2,
2014, at The Kathy Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 7, 1926, in Chicago to Frank and Emma (Johnson) Bloom.
Carl was raised in Owen and graduated from Owen High School in 1944. He met
Betty Jean Koerner while in high school, and they married on July 9, 1949, in
Colby. Carl was employed as a draftsman at Gehl Co. until he retired in 1990. He
was a member of the 25 year Hexelbank Club.
Carl’s interests included bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting. He especially
enjoyed Badger, Packer and Brewer games. Carl loved spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jean; children, David Bloom,
Diane Bloom, Janice Johnson, Gerald (Sandy) Bloom and Debra (Joel Johnson)
Bloom; grandchildren, Jay Bloom, Zachary (Courtney) Bloom, Matt Bloom, Melanie
(Kevin) Gonring, Jeremy (Tammy) Johnson, Joshua (Jessica) Johnson, Julia (Kevin)
Garczynski, Connor Johnson, Jack Johnson and Bennett Johnson; seven
great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert (Sally) Bloom; sister, Esther Salzgeber;
brother-in-law, Donald (Yvonne) Koerner; sister-in-law, Carol (Dennis) Feind;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Allan Litten and
Chris Salzgeber.
Private services were held. Memorials to the Washington County Senior Center and
The Kathy Hospice are appreciated.
