Schultz, Paul (93rd Birthday - 19 February 1973)
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rutherford of Black River Falls and Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Knutson of Merrillan held open house at the Bryan Home in Neillsville Sunday
from 2 to 4 p.m. in honor of the 93rd birthday of the ladies’ father, Paul
Schultz.
Mr. Schultz was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Schultz in Pine Valley February 19,
1880. He attended school and grew to manhood there. He was married to Kate
Miller April 17, 1904. They lived in Pine Valley several years before moving to
the Town of Washburn where they resided for many years. There are two sons,
Hallie of Omro and Alfred of Wind Lake; and two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Helen)
Knutson of Merrillan and Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Rutherford of Black River
Falls.
Mr. Schultz served as assessor in the Town of Pine Valley for 10 years, six
years as chairman of the Town of Washburn and 14 years as assessor in Washburn.
Mrs. Schultz died in June, 1962. Since that time Mr. Schultz has spent summers
in Washburn and the winter months with Mr. and Mrs. Hallie Schultz and Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred Schultz, until this fall when he went to Bryan home as his sons and
wives planned to spend the winter in Arizona.
His nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Schultz, and Mrs. Leland Schultz of
Reedsburg attended the open house, as did relatives and friends from Granton,
Neillsville, Merrillan, Black River Falls, Pine Valley and Washburn.
Birthday cake, other cakes, ice cream and coffee were served. He was presented
with gifts and cards.
