Humbird (15 February 1973)

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Duerkop and children of Stevens Point visited Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duerkop, and also at the Cecil Reineck home in Alma Center.

Mrs. Elgie Hardwick is home from the hospital and her daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Harris of Altoona, will be with her for several days.

Miss Mary Jo Enerson of Alma Center called at the Arnold Matti home Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe and Mrs. Mayme Laffe were in Eau Claire Friday.

Dale Austin of Beloit came Saturday to take Mrs. Laura Dignin to their home for an indefinite stay.

Mrs. Edith Smith and Mrs. Johanna Olson were super guests Wednesday at the Dewey Lang home.

Mrs. Ann Sparkes and Mrs. Matie Smith spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Freida Zerbel.

The American Legion and auxiliary will meet in their hall, Monday, February 19, at 8 p.m.

Pammy Duerkop was home for the weekend from her school at Delavan.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Johnson and children of La Crosse were recent visitors at the Elmer Duerkop home.

The 4-H club held a Valentine party in the community hall Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stuve were supper guests Wednesday at the Mel Markham home.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice were dinner guests Sunday at the Levi Fitzmaurice home.

It seems the flu hasn’t decided to stop. The Bernard Sieg family has been victims the last week.

Dinner and supper guests Sunday at the Leland Duxbury home were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nelson, Kate Van Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Omar Janke, Mrs. Emma Gerber, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher and Art Christen. Several birthdays which are close together were honored.

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Keller and two boys of Rockford were weekend guests of Mrs. Johanna Olson and, with Mrs. Olson, were Saturday supper and Sunday dinner guests at the Allen Zimmerman home in Fairchild.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Duerkop of Eau Claire visited his parents in rural Alma Center Sunday and her mother, Mrs. Iola Printz, in rural Humbird.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nelson entertained at a card party Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Duxbury, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher, Postmaster and Mrs. Willard Stanley and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Buttke.

Mr and Mrs. Wayland Hardwick of Altoona were here Monday to see his mother, Mrs. Elgie Hardwick.

A group of ladies gathered at the home of Mrs. Emma Gerber to welcome home Mrs. Matie Smith. They were Mrs. Emma Theiler, Mrs. Romona Duerkop, Mrs. Freida Zerbel and Mrs. Darlene Trachsel.

Mrs. Emma Gerber, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Neva Aeschbacher were in Eau Claire Monday.
