Richard H. Sampe, long-time Wisconsin cheesemaker, died last Friday in
Pipestone, Minn.
Mr. Sampe was married for over 50 years to the former Mayme Meyers of Green
Grove. He was prominent in the dairy industry, serving as secretary of the
American Cheesemakers association and winning many awards for his cheeses. Owing
to failing health, Mr. and Mrs. Sampe had moved to Pipestone, Minn., in order to
be near their daughter, Mrs. Harold Julian.
Mr. Sampe is survived by his widow, and two daughters, Mrs. Julian of Pipestone
and Ruth Mammanga of Bemidji, Minn.
