Kolstad, Emil Richard (31 July 1880 - 16 February 1973)
Emil Richard Kolstad, 92, died Friday morning, February 16, at his home. He was
born July 31, 1880, in Norway to Ingebrett and Karen (Dohl) Kolstad. He came to
the United States in 1883 with his parents and they settled on a farm near
Greenwood. In June, 1910, he was married to Alma Anderson Rosen. After his
marriage the couple resided on the farm 4½ miles northwest of Greenwood. Mrs.
Kolstad died February 22, 1960.
Surviving are two sons, Everett of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Arthur of Greenwood.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Hill Funeral Home in
Greenwood. The Rev. David Wenger, pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church,
officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jake Barr, Joe Boe, Francis Hansen, Godfrey Dyre, Clarence
Verhulst and Harry Meinhardt.
Henry Niesen sang “I Know of a Seep in Jesus’ Home” and “Put Thou Thy Trust in
God.” He was accompanied by Miss Berdell Nielsen.
