Wellman, Irvin "Sonny" A. (19 JAN 1920 - 13 SEP 2014)
Irvin "Sonny" A. Wellman, age 94, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, September
13, 2014 at Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford.
Irvin was born on January 19, 1920, the son of Arthur and Meta (Anders) Wellman
in the Township of Holton, Marathon County. He attended school until having to
support his family at the age of 13.
Irvin was united in marriage to Johanna Held on August 30, 1952 at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on November 21, 2001. Together they
farmed in Holton Township until retiring in 1978. He then worked at Berg
Equipment in Marshfield until 1984.
Irvin enjoyed traveling after retiring from farming. They traveled to Germany,
Canada and all over the United States. He also enjoyed visiting with family and
friends.
Irvin is survived by his three daughters, Linda (Lawrence) Cooper, Ursula
(David) Witt and Ruth (Alan) Uhlig; nine grandchildren and ten
great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Delores "Phranzi"
Brehm; sister-in-law, Maria Bernt; nieces and nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Johanna; two sons, Charles
and Gerd; three sisters, Marion Mantor, Ellen Grauman and Jocelyn Brehm and a
brother, Vernon "Pete" Wellman.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan. Pastor Jeffrey Lambrecht will officiate.
Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Family and friends are welcome
from 9:30 AM until time of services Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Building Fund.
