Kind, Orlando J. (20 JAN 1925 – 16 SEP 2014)
Orlando J. "Louie" Kind, 89, Greenwood, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014,
at the Marshfield Care Center, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11
a.m., on Monday, Sept. 22, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church,
Greenwood. Rev. Brian Campbell officiated. Burial followed in the Greenwood City
Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren.
Orlando John Kind was born on Jan. 20, 1925, in Curtiss, the son of Otto Sr. and
Mabel (nee Johnson) Kind. He was raised on the family farm and received his
education in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1943.
Orlando married Alvina M. Bauer on May 17, 1944, in Fond du Lac. In 1945, they
moved to Greenwood where he started his own milk and cattle hauling business.
Orlando sold his trucks in 1960 and went to work for Plautz Brothers, where he
was a foreman and in charge of the rock crushing crew. He later went to work for
Greenwood Homes, when they opened up in Greenwood, and continued with them until
they closed. Orlando then worked at Industrial Air Products, Phillips, until
retiring. For many years he drove school bus for Branstiters. He was a member of
Our Savior's Lutheran Church, served on the Greenwood City Council and the
Greenwood Fire Department, and was on the board of directors for Black River
Apartments. Orlando had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening and
deer hunting.
He is survived by his three sons, Dannie (Judy) Kind, Marshfield, Gary Kind,
Greenwood, and Steve (Carol) Kind, Phillips; nine grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Speich,
Roscoe, Ill., and Donna Mae Hium, Eau Claire; one brother, Otto Jr. (Pat) Kind,
Greenwood; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alvina, on June 25, 1994; one
brother, Vernon Kind; and one sister, Ruth Rasmussen.
