While Dr. and Mrs. R.A. McIntyre were on their way to Ellsworth Saturday evening
to spend a few days at the home of Mrs. McIntyre's parents, they had the
misfortune to run into the ditch near Baldwin and wreck their car, severely
injuring the Doctor's right hand.
They were driving at a slow rate of speed, having just had a little trouble,
when Dr., hearing a rattle in the bottom of the car made by a measuring can
against the emergency brake, looked down to adjust it, taking his eyes off the
road just long enough to right it in time, so turned over.
Dr.'s. hand went through the glass in the side door and was pinned under the
car, it being necessary for a number of men who gathered round immediately, with
a long pole and blocks to raise the car before he could be extricated.
Mrs. McIntyre was able to crawl out before the car was raised, but was quite
severely bruised about the knees and elbow. They were taken to Baldwin where the
doctor there administered first aid and then to the Luther Hospital at Eau
Claire, where it will be necessary for Dr. McIntyre to to remain for some time.
The exact extent of his injuries is not ascertained as yet, but the hand seemed
badly crushed and two bones in the back being broken, but due to the bad
swelling, S-rays could not be taken as of yet.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Walsh of Eau Claire returned here with Mrs. McIntyre Monday.
