Delis, Walter (12 JAN 1900 – 30 APR 1967)
Walter Delis, 67, route 5, Marshfield, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's
Hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident 3 miles southeast of
Marshfield on Thursday afternoon, which also claimed the lives of his son, Carl
E. Delis, 40, and Richard F. Esser, 38.
Joint funeral services for the Delises, father and son, were held at 2 p.m.
Monday at the Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp. Burial was in the East Thorp
Cemetery.
Walter Delis was born Jan. 12, 1900, at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). His marriage to
Ruby Piper, who preceded him in death, Dec. 23, 1966, took place Aug. 19, 1925.
The couple farmed for several years and lived in the Thorp area until about 18
years ago, when they moved to Marshfield.
Carl Delis is the father of 7 children. His wife is in critical condition at the
hospital
Survivors are five sons, Donald and Walter Jr., Marshfield; Robert, Greenwood;
Arthur, Azuda, Calif.; and Richard, who is stationed with the U.S. Army in
Maryland; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Eleanor) Powalish, Palatine, Ill.; Mrs.
Calvin (Louise) Krause, Curtiss; and Mrs. Alfred (Yvonne) Boushon, Marshfield;
and 24 grandchildren.
