Funeral services for Herbert Francis Firnstahl, 69, Colby, were held at 10:30
a.m. today, Dec. 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby. The Rev. John B.
Pinion officiated, and burial was in the parish cemetery. A general rosary was
said Wednesday evening. Funeral arrangements were handled by Lulloff Funeral
Home, Colby. Mr. Firnstahl died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, at his home in the town of
Hull.
Herbert Francis Firnstahl was born Nov. 21, 1897, in the town of Hull, where he
lived his entire life. His marriage to Lucille Hoppe who survives, took place
June 12, 1923, at St. Thomas Catholic church, Milan. The couple retired from
active farming two years ago, but continued to live at the home farm. He was a
member of St. Mary’s Catholic church.
Surviving, in addition to the widow, are three sons, Emanuel, James and Daniel,
and two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Delores) Hedler and Mrs. Berdell (Margaret)
Bruesewitz, all of Colby; 19 grand children; one brother, Ewald, of St Paul, and
two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Irma) Chaput of Woodbury, N. J., and Mrs. Henry
(Irene) Van Leur, St. Paul. He was preceded in death by one sister.
