Funeral services for Joseph Zahorka, Cedar Mills, Minn., a former area resident,
were held Monday, January 2, at Colby city hall. The Rev. Clinton Goff and the
Rev. Loren Hamilton officiated, and burial was in the Abbotsford cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby. Mr. Zahorka
died December 30 at Hutchinson community hospital at Cedar Falls. He was 80
years old.
Joseph A. Zahorka was born on March 23, 1886, at Dorchester. He married Edna
Rodeztsky. The couple farmed in the Dorchester area until 1924 when they moved
to Colby. He worked for the Libby Corning Co. for 16 years, moving from Colby in
1940. Since that time he had farmed in the Unity and Edgar areas. Mrs. Zahorka
died in 1957, and Mr. Zahorka had been living since that time with his son,
Eldred.
Survivors include one son, Eldred, Cedar Falls, Minn., and one daughter, Mrs.
Edward (Mae) Lager, Madison; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Zahorka, Milwaukee, Mrs.
Christina Krueger, Wausau, and Sister Libertas, Chicago. In addition to his
wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
