Maeder, Fred (25 April 1912 - 7 March 1973)
A former Neillsvi9lle resident, Fred Maeder, 60, of Fenwood, died March 7 at St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were held March 10 from St.
Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fenwood, with the Rev. Donald Gauerke officiating.
Burial was in the Fenwood Cemetery. The Sauter Funeral home, Stratford, was in
charge of arrangements.
Mr. Maeder, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Maeder, was born April 25, 1912 in
Freeport, Ill. He worked at the milk co-op in Neillsville before moving to
Fenwood in 1955 where he owned and operated Freddie’s Bar. He had also been
employed in Marshfield, and was a musician for over 40 years. His marriage to
the former Adele Balsiger took place November 9, 1940, in Black River Falls.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Edward of Madison and Erick at
home; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Meyer of Amery; a sister, Mrs. Leonard Otte of
Freeport, Il.; a brother, Ernest of Milwaukee; a half-brother, Alfred Blank of
Milwaukee; two half-sisters, Mrs. Warren Bolling of Milwaukee and Mrs. Anna
Hutmacher of Freeport, Il.; and three grandchildren.
