Shaw, George Ernest (13 May 1892 - 2 April 1973)
Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the
United Church of Christ for George Ernest Shaw, 80, of Neillsville, who died
here April 2. The Rev. Gary Clark will officiate and burial will be made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Georgas Funeral Home until
noon today when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time
of services.
George Shaw, the son of Jerome and Mae (Hatch) Shaw, was born May 13, 1892, in
Oconomowoc and moved to Neillsville as a small boy. He was educated in schools
here. His marriage to the former Clara Wedekind took place February 25, 1914, in
Neillsville. The couple lived in Neillsville where he worked for the Krumrey
Dray Lines and later for the American Store Dairy Company. In 1920 they moved to
a farm in the Town of Levis, remaining there for 11 years before returning to
Neillsville. Mr. Shaw, a member of the United Church of Christ and of the
I.O.O.F. Lodge No 198, retired several years ago due to failing health. During
his lifetime, he was also employed by the Wadhams Oil Company, Neillsville Milk
Products, Warlum-Robinson and Shaw Heating.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four children, Louis Shaw of
Merrillan, Clarence Shaw of Iron Ridge, Robert Shaw of Neillsville and Mrs.
Richard (Edna) Lowe of Olathe, Ka.; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Mae) Beckman of
Doylestown and Mrs. Perry (Genevieve) Hahm of Hatfield; two brothers, Clifford
(Ted) Shaw, of Milwaukee and Harold Shaw, address unknown; and 12 grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for George E. Shaw, 80, Neillsville, who died April 2, were
held April 5 from the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark
officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers for Mr. Shaw were Fred Wall, Warren Medicke, W. G. Meier, Ray Burr,
William Weast and Lawrence Hrach. “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle”
were sung by Mrs. May Peters accompanied by Mr. Beulah Zoutendam.
Those attending the services from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Gib Gomer,
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shaw, Jr., and family and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shaw and
family, Black River Falls; Mrs. Ted Shaw, Miss Lynda Shaw and Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Riekkoff, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beckman, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Beckman, Jr., Doylestown; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hahm, Hatfield; Mr. and Mrs. Dick
Lowe, Olathe, Ka.; Miss Marie Lowe, Manhattan, Ka,; Mr and DMRs. Clarence Shaw
and Tod Shaw, Iron Ridge; David Shaw, Minneapolis., Mn.; Roger Shaw, Oshkosh;
and Mr and Mrs. Louis Shaw, Sr., Merrillan.
