Sleznikow, Larry (12 AUG 1931 - 08 Aug 2014)
Larry Sleznikow, 82, Neillsville, died on Aug. 8, 2014, in the Clark County
Health Care Center, Owen, one year after being diagnosed with cancer. A
celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 18, at
St. Paul’s Church ELCA, 1131 Meridian St., Curtiss. A luncheon will follow the
service.
Larry Sleznikow was born on Aug. 12, 1931, in Flemington, N.J., the son of
Konstantin and Pauline Sleznikow. Larry worked as a pilot and airplane mechanic
before being employed by Ronson Consumer Products Corporation in Somerset, N.J.
He was later hired as a mechanical engineer by Lockheed Electronics Company in
North Plainfield, N.J. He left New Jersey in 1979 and moved to Greenwood with
his wife, Esther, to dairy farm. They retired from farming in 2009 and moved to
a hobby farm near Neillsville. A life-long tinkerer and builder, Larry had
numerous hobbies including rebuilding antique tractors and gasoline engines,
building and flying both full-size and model airplanes, repairing antique
radios, woodworking and metalworking.
He is survived by his spouse, Esther; two sons, Larry Sleznikow and his wife,
Carolyn, La Crosse; and Dale Sleznikow and his wife, Rhonda, Withee; and five
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
