Rogus, Helen F. #2 (12 DEC 1870 - 13 JUL 1967)
Mrs. Helen F. Rogus died July 13, 1967 at Victory Memorial Hospital of old age
infirmities. She was born Dec. 12, 1870 in Pilzno, Poland, came to America and
in a couple of years. Jacob Rogus and Helen Jarosz were united in marriage on
July 7, 1898 in St. John's Ctantius Church in Chicago, Ill. Two daughters mourn
her, Mrs. Kase (Sophie) Mikolainis of Withee, and Mrs. Frank (Victoria) Skrzenta
of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Donald Mikolainis of Evanston, Ill., and
James Skrzenta of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Ron (Joan) Eklund of Chicago, and Mrs.
Kenneth (Jolanta) Micke of Thorp, and a 8 great-grandchildren, Carol, Robert and
Cathy Mikolainis, Thomas, Theresa and Steve Eklund, and timothy and David Mike
of Thorp, also one brother, Anton Jarosz of Thorp.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Rogus lived in Chicago after their marriage. Later they bough
40 acres of woods, cleared it, sol longs and wood. Later they farmed it. After
23 years of farming they moved to the village of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where
they made their home, and upon Mr. Jacob Rogus' death on Nov. 13, 1946, Mrs. H.
Rogus sold her residence to her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Anton
Jarosz, which was in 1948.
She made her home with them for several years, then moved in with her daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kase (Sophie) Mikolainis of Withee on Dec. 25,
1964, had fractured her hip and was a wheel chair patient since at Victory
Memorial Hospital and home of the aged for 2 1/2 years.
The funeral was held at Thorp Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted by
Father Edward Masalewicz at St. Hedwig's Chapel at 10 o'clock Saturday, July
15th, 1967, and the body was laid to rest at St. Hedwig's Parish Cemetery.
The following friends were pallbearers: Stanley Arciszewski, John Giwojna, Frank
Dranginis, John Hmielak, Louis Gulcynski of Thorp and Steven Casey of Chicago.
